Beyond a Shadow of a Doubt

Sad news this morning, my momma's pup Shadow slipped away.  At 11 years of age, he passed today 11/11/11.  Certainly shows how connected he was to the universe.  He certainly was to ours.  They will all be missing him big time in Oklahoma.   Tolerant of the young and pokey, protective of the weak and sick, companion to all.   I snuck him cheese probably more often than I should.  Scared of guns, loud noises, and  storms of all kinds -- he was a part of our family for that we will miss him.

In the mix always when there was fun to be had

He always connected with the kids

You can tell he too wanted to be in the lap

He wasn't much for photos, too much like guns

oh yaaaa

Yah, just like that

c'mon a little more

thank you so much!

Yes! More...

mmmmmmmm i love you

Dad Report: Talked to Dad, he was out with his wife yesterday -- he couldn't recollect what they did or where they went; he didn't think they were at the house.  He did say they had dinner, that my little bro was there but my sister wasn't.  He was really effected when I told him about Shadow's passing.  He was immediately off telling me about the dogs they had owned when he was a child.  Bingo, who passed away.  Strays that "wandered off."  And an Irish Setter who wanted to retrieve them from the ocean when they went swimming. "He was always getting into trouble."

And my friend Jezebel, who recently lost her own dog, also named Shadow, and who still grieves for him said this:  "Boo... it sucks to lose ones shadow.. just ask Peter Pan"

Indeed, and I think losing one's pet -- is much like losing your shadow.  They are there, in darkness and light.  We rely on them, even when we don't realize it, to be there.  Because they are there - with us - no matter our moods - they comfort us, want us to play, bring us joy.

Random Photo of the Day: the VHM and boy-o creating space for flying kites...oh those long summer days...

I hope Shadow has never ending summer days, with cool breezes, belly rubs, and cheese - with the voices of his people gently in his ears, so he knows we are all ok and he can rest easy.

R.I.P. Shadow
