So let's see, we were in Oklahoma.
yah, that's pretty much what we do. hang out. watch movies. read. talk. and EAT. boy do we eat. It's like a magic place where all the munchy foods you want are at your finger tips. I mean really. So much munchy food you can't cram it in...in FIVE days. That's alot of munchy food.
Dad Report: Dad had a hearing appointment on Monday, and will be getting his hearing aids back. This will be interesting as we recognize some of his "hearing loss" is actually dementia, his inability to understand what the person is saying rather than the inability to hear it. But it should help some and if nothing else keep the radio and tv at a dull roar rather than a blasting scream. He's forgotten who I am again - he knows I'm his daughter Caitie, but has forgotten the bigger picture. He apologized on Sunday saying "I'm sorry, but I have no recollection of you as a child." As much as I am "ok" with it - it still kinda hits your heart a little bit... especially knowing that really the people who recollect me as a child are few and far between. Thank god for older siblings I guess.
He seems shocked every time to hear that I am Mary's child, as if I am so different from her that it is an impossibility that I am her child. Which is funny as I am starting to realize, much to my dismay, how much I am like her. Funny, this. Dad got a walk today with the aide, who he refers to as "his friend" - which isn't a bad thing; having a friend.
The next big thing:

So back to Oklahoma for a minute. Let's see Sunday night we had banana splits part deaux:
Then you take a photo.
Then you eat it.
I love Ruby's face when she's eating something REALLY tasty - it has this great joy - the kinda toe curling sparkle in your heart joy - that is fleeting but delightful when it hits.
This photo reminded me of this photo:
Gma wasn't feeling up to snuff but it didn't stop her from enjoying this...
Mom managed to eat a cherry stem she was so intent on her banana split
| He's not really a pirate (but don't tell him) |
By the time our trip was over and we were back home - - my tummy was, well out of sorts. And look fall was upon us
The fact that it was 86 degrees out today made it a bit weird, but it is indeed fall. See. The leaves. Fall.
He gave me a special surprise tonight - bursting into my office to pick me up dressed as a fireman!
For reals. He's perfect.
