We had gathered a fair amount of treats prior to the trip - I was determined to #1 get on the road in a timely fashion and #2 not pay gas station prices for trip treats. However, then someone started talking about donuts. *shoots a glance at the girl* It wasn't me, though I have to admit once she started talking, I started sharing the fact that the pumpkin donuts were just well, so damn good.
There was a discussion over the fact that we needed glass cleaner (VHM's winders were filthy) and coffee (the girl, again) and so maybe we should skip donuts and just go to Target.
The VHM in a wonderful gesture took us to dunkin -- we went in - because as everyone knows you must see donuts in order to properly select them. They were in the middle of a computer back up - so we hung out - chatted - waited for our donuts. mmmm donuts.
I thought about taking pictures but DID I? no. I did not.
We picked up a dozen. The boy-o was so thrilled to be able to get 3 donuts. Majorly grin-y. We also went to target. And so at 8pm finally got on the road.
We pulled in at midnight almost on the dot. And after appropriate hugs to da Momma - we fell into our bed. The crevasse, as I refer to it. Going to Oklahoma brings us closer together, i.e. we must sleep on top of one another due to the gravitational pull of the bed.
We got up at a reasonable hour and crossed the yard to the main house (sounds plantation like, huh?)
where we greeted the GMA and the Robert (aka October, aka, Dad).
and we finished off the donuts. It was a good morning. Look a 1/2 a blog just on donuts.
Dad Report: he was good, I think he might be a little tired from the packed weekend and trip out with my little sister - he got to go to a lecture on Wolverines. When I talked to him the day after (yesterday) he remembered clearly he had gone; but essentially remembered three things about Wolverines:
1. Their range was exclusive to the northern rocky mountains and therefore were fairly elusive.
2. They like to eat squirrels/rabbits; but would occasionally eat someone's small pet (this he found greatly amusing).
3. We don't really know that much about wolverines.
He repeated these facts a number of times (helped me remember them). But it was clear he enjoyed being out - at night - especially.
Z's cards came in yesterday - I looked through them briefly and they look fantastic. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to take some photos and get them up on the blog and start getting them on Etsy. Yep. I packed em in the car with me!
Mom and I spent a fair amount of time at Walmart today. The town is small and they are truly the only real shopping in the city. They just opened up a new expanded Walmart, closing the old one (don't get me started). After a long ordeal dealing with the failures of our healthcare / prescription system - we did some shopping - and then did round two of the failures of the system.
Ah, the insurance company sends my Mom and insurance card with her name on it but then says she is not in their system at all. WTF.
Looking at movies minimized the sting - they had "everything":
GOOD CHRIST. I am pretty sure that no matter what he would be doing - he would be appalled by this. Adding insult to injury it was in the $5.00 bin. Bwahahahaha.
After naps and movies (Green Lantern - get some); a big spaghetti dinner; and well, then it's time for:
Gotta go. I'm missing the 2nd show...
