Ups and Downs

I got right on my day - jumping on the computer and making the necessary alterations to Z's drawings to get them formatted for cards.  Then sent them all over to him with the adjustments, a few with color background versions; and the text I want to put with each one.

I finished up just as my alarm went off to call Dad.

Dad Report: The radio (which is on the tv) was too loud for him to hear me today.  He also was tired and therefore had a harder time keeping the receiver next to his ear and that also made it hard for him to hear me.  I spent a lot of time repeating myself and saying "what?" to his response (as the receiver drifted away from his head) - where upon he'd say "What?" and then when I got him to understand I hadn't heard his last comment- by then he would have forgotten what he had said.  I got out of him that he remembered being a pirate, a character from a book he had read, robin hood, and a knight for halloween as a child. He either doesn't have a remote for the tv/radio; or he doesn't remember that he does.  Same thing really, I suppose.  I think we were both a little relieved to end the call today.

I met with S at the Merc - she REALLY loved the images of my sister's cards.  Especially the snails, the bean, the games set and the barns.  She kept a few samples to show her purchasing manager, and took the order form and price list.  I am hopeful. She'll get back to me either late this week or early next week.  Cross your fingers.  I also went to Phoenix Gallery and left a note for the manager there. So we'll see.  I'm waiting for Z's cards before I hit up some of the other places -
Got an email back from Z - he liked my text for his images - this means a lot.

Let's see what else did I do?

The next big thing:

Work on logo, and “tag line”[the VHM is working on this - but so far, well, um...he's not getting too far]
Work on bio
Take better pictures of product
[I still need to do the three above but I skipped em for now in favor of getting the Etsy Store up and running - I can add to and tweek this in the future]
Call BizBaz find out when november meeting is -Make a list of stuff we'll need for the BizBaz show, start gathering [I sent an email as there was no phone number on the website - need to confirm they got my check]
Set up Z's card -s - I got a good start - its more difficult than I realized to learn photoshop "on the fly"- and I hope to finish up tomorrow.
Go to meeting at the Merc - don't act crazy
Work hard on the knitting project (its a time sensitive matter) [I did, but there's still lots to go]
Develop "mail introduction" for stores outside the area -[worked on it, not completed]
Do some work on Etsy

Write draft bio for Z -send to him for review
Do set up on all insides of z's cards.
Do WHCC order for Z's cards
Check stock on clear bags
Set up Z's images with watermarks for etsy posting

The writing:

She is back
the nurturer
the bold spirited
  independent seer

She is strong
knows this by
  feeling fists
gravel making holes
 in her knees
tasting blood
listening to them
  degrade her

Her scarred heart
still beats with its
own syncopation
writing poems in
sacred voice

This phoenix has risen
singed but not
turned to ash

Smokey, she unveils
her tender pulpy self
fire from creation
has laid to rest fear

and she leaps…

caught by her devotion
caught by her belief there is more

netted and held gently
by her father’s rough hands
sheltered
by her mother’s faith
She then stands safely on
her grandmother’s path

She is back
a blossom
a butterfly
an image
developing before your eyes
