Well I must start doing better at taking photos...I remember and then forget. So there's no pictures of the amazingly tasty breakfast bowl that I cooked for everyone this morning with the strawberry & peach smoothy.
You can take this moment to imagine it:
I was excited for today because today was the band parade. and well, everyone loves a parade! So my stepson H, and T and I ran downtown to catch the parade.
That's the Army band. They always march last, and that's how you know the parade is over. I have a inordinate amount of weird sensitivity around military personnel these days. I am not sure where it really comes from - but soldiers make me get all squooshy.
Anyway...the bands are statewide high school bands predominantly - and they always do there very best to impress.
I could post a BUNCH of videos, but I think a taste is good enough. I took the day off from all projects and work -- it's good for me to do this every once in a while; tomorrow I will be sure to make up for it with all sorts of worky work. I think the next thing I have to do is labels for the card sets; working on the logo for a business card; and taking photos of the cards for various websites and this little project.
Dad Report: I told Dad about the story slam T and I went to last night. He asked me after that if I was going to tell him a story, and so I did. I told the story of when he, my siblings and I hiked the Grand Canyon one summer. This is a familiar "dad story" but he's forgotten so much - it's fascinating to him. He said he was glad that we remembered such things and I let him know that we would continue to tell "his stories" even if he couldn't remember them. I told him how all the canoeing, skiing and hiking he did with us helped us to be happier healthier kids and that it also taught us all a great appreciation for nature. He was pleased to know he had an impact in our lives.
Yes, Poppa - you have and continue to impact me. Your ability to face these dramatic changes in your life with good humor and little anger is just one more lesson you have shared with me.
I have a whole list of promises unfulfilled on this blog already. Maybe tomorrow I will do better.
T and my dinner:
First course: Nuts
2nd course: Toast
3rd course: Cereal, I substituted Egg Noodles with parm.
Dessert: Cheese, Ritz crackers and sweet/spicy pickles (T didn't have dessert yet).
T says "I love being an adult"
I can't stop chewing my lip. Perhaps I am developing Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome. [I wrote a paper on this syndrome in college]
